How to install a LUT in DaVinci Resolve

Resolve lists every .cube file in its LUT folder. Put the file there once, then apply it to a node on the Color page.

Which file
Use the 65-point file. The 33-point file works too.

Before you start

  1. Check Project Settings > Color Management > Color Science. With the default, DaVinci YRGB, apply the LUT as below.Source

  2. With DaVinci YRGB Color Managed, Resolve already converts log clips it recognizes. This LUT does that conversion itself, so on the Color page right-click the clip in the Thumbnail Timeline and check Bypass Color Management before you add the LUT.Source

Install the LUT

  1. Open Project Settings with the gear button at the bottom right of any page.Source

  2. Go to Color Management > Lookup Tables and click Open LUT Folder.Source

  3. Copy the .cube file into the folder that opens.Source

  4. Click Update Lists so the LUT shows up without restarting Resolve.Source

Apply it to a clip

  1. On the Color page, select the clip.Source

  2. Right-click a node in the Node Editor, open the LUT submenu, then 3D LUT, and choose the file.Source

  3. Or open the LUT Browser from the toolbar at the top of the Color page and drag the LUT onto the node (or right-click it and choose Apply LUT to current node).Source

Apply it to many clips

  1. Group them: select the clips in the Timeline, right-click one and choose Add Into New Group. Switch the Node Editor to Group Pre-Clip and add the LUT there; every clip in the group gets it.Source

  2. Or copy the grade: select the clips you want to change, then middle-click the graded clip (or right-click it and choose Apply Grade).Source

Good to know

  • The LUT is the last operation inside its node, so that node's own controls act before it. Set exposure and white balance there or in an earlier node.Source
  • The Mac App Store version keeps LUTs in a different folder. Open LUT Folder always opens the right one.Source
