Turns the Z50II's N-Log / N-Gamut footage into normal-looking Rec.709 video. One .cube LUT, free for any project, no email.

Shot on Sony FX30 (S-Log3) and re-encoded into N-Log / N-Gamut to show the conversion.

The LUT converts N-Log with N-Gamut color, as the manufacturer publishes them, into Rec.709 through the ACES 2.0 output (SDR, 100 nits).

Set up the Z50II

  • Video recording menu: Video file type = H.265 10-bit (MOV), then Tone mode = N-Log (not available in SCN mode). Internal recording.
  • N-Log ISO (mode M): Lo 0.3-Lo 2.0 or ISO 800-25600; Maximum sensitivity can't go below ISO 1600. Dynamic range is quoted at ISO 800.

Exposure

Nikon's Log-Format/RAW Technical Guide: for N-Log, expose an 18% grey card to about 35% on the waveform (10-bit code value around 372).
