Shot on Sony FX30 (S-Log3) and re-encoded into N-Log / N-Gamut to show the conversion.

The LUT converts N-Log with N-Gamut color, as the manufacturer publishes them, into Rec.709 through the ACES 2.0 output (SDR, 100 nits).

Set up the Z6III

  • Video recording menu: Video file type = N-RAW 12-bit (NEV), ProRes RAW HQ 12-bit, ProRes 422 HQ 10-bit or H.265 10-bit (MOV), then Tone mode = N-Log. Internal recording.
  • The lowest N-Log ISO in mode M is Lo 2.0 per the current manual. Maximum sensitivity can't go below ISO 1600. Nikon quotes 13+ stops at ISO 800.

Exposure

Nikon's Log-Format/RAW Technical Guide: for N-Log, expose an 18% grey card to about 35% on the waveform (10-bit code value around 372).
