Shot on Sony FX30 (S-Log3) and re-encoded into N-Log / N-Gamut to show the conversion.

The LUT converts N-Log with N-Gamut color, as the manufacturer publishes them, into Rec.709 through the ACES 2.0 output (SDR, 100 nits).

Set up the Z6II

  • N-Log is HDMI output only: in the camera's HDMI output options set Output data depth = 10 bit, then N-Log/HDR (HLG) output options = N-Log. It records only on the external recorder, not to the camera's card.
  • Minimum ISO for N-Log output: ISO 800 in mode M; Maximum sensitivity can't go below ISO 1600.

Exposure

Nikon's Log-Format/RAW Technical Guide: for N-Log, expose an 18% grey card to about 35% on the waveform (10-bit code value around 372).
